St Barbara Simberi mine: “Finding SWM was like striking gold”

August 2, 2022

In March 2022, SWM was deployed at St Barbara’s Simberi operations in Papua New Guinea.

Less than five months on and the efficiency improvements have been phenomenal.

Nathan N’Druwin Senior Planner at Simberi Operations commented:

“Before SWM we had to use multiple excel sheets to assess work management KPIs and even then, inputting the data from Pronto can be long and tedious, building a well-resourced schedule meant hours of collating work orders from Pronto, construction onto an excel sheet, labour resource availability from rosters (another set of excel sheets) and checking parts availability in the Pronto inventory module, line by line. A version can take a full working day to build.”

“With SWM, it’s a one-stop-shop, I can build multiple versions of a schedule for multiple work groups in a day. It almost feels like cheating. “

“Prior to SWM, we had almost zero visibility of our work management performance. With SWM we now understand how we are doing and what we need to do to improve our processes.”

“In our quest to find a scheduling and analytics system for Pronto at St Barbara’s Simberi Operations, finding SWM was like striking gold.”

“The amazing SWM support team has responded favourably and with experienced industry experts within the team, responses have been very satisfactory by far.”
